Join me!

Please join me at my new blog, The Unboxing Of Kim . As most of my readers know, Kim Izzy is a pen name. I have chosen to consolidate all of my blogging into one place. Thank you for your years of reading a slice of my life. I would love to have you visit me at the new blog.

I know not everyone will be interested all my genres of writing but it has been hard to compartmentalize my life. And as I have let art both digital illustration and mixed media have more space in my life, I wanted a location to express all aspects of me.

Thanks for understanding. See you at The Unboxing of Kim.

Blessings,

Kim Hewison

Busy! Busy! Busy!

I promise to get back to writing for Picture it and Write short stories soon. There have been several great prompts. This summer I am working on my second children's book. I have the concept written down and the pictures waiting to be drawn, just need another eight hours in the day.

It's been fun learning to draw with Inkscape in my spare time. I have been creating coloring book pages for the wonderful ministry at Stand Strength Team. They have a great anti-bullying message.

My alter ego, Leann Holland, decided to try throwing her hat into the ring and write a fanfic for Kindle Worlds which seems to be dominating my life right now. Leann Holland is my pen name for my adult (not "Adult" or Mature) maybe a better way to say that is my non-kid and non-YA stories. Check out "her" blog, Leann Holland's Chattering. There are several free short stories for your enjoyment.

Working hard on new products for my Zazzle store, KimIzzyCorner, click on the link to check out all of Loop's products. We have Birthday Invitations to nightlights. As always, please tell everyone to check out my children's book The Case of the Missing Mother. It would be a great Back to School book for Elementary Teacher's and Preschool Teacher's in their classrooms. The pictures have a fall theme and the story theme of Stranger Danger is timeless.

Hope you're enjoying your summer -

Kim Izzy

Graduation

My oldest child has completed the task set before a child and will take the last steps into adulthood today. It is a happy day and a sad day. With joy, I have watched him grow into a wonderful young man. I am proud to call him my son.

But . . . I know the changes that have arrived. He is no longer my dependent. He is his own man. I will have to respect this new fact, if I hope to have a healthy relationship with him.

Today, I am a lost momma(in the tears of change). So, today, I am offering the final free day of The Case of the Missing Mother E-book this month.

Congratulations, son!

Blessings,

Kim

Happy Mother's Day

I loved reading to my children. So, in honor of Mother's day tomorrow, I have scheduled a free e-book promotion of The Case of the Missing Mother for May 11-12, 2014.

It is my hope that you take time to enjoy the little moments with your child(ren) or grandchild(ren), if you are lucky enough to have them nearby.

Blessings,

Kim

Hiatus

I am sorry about the unexpected hiatus from writing/illustrating and blogging. I took a part time seasonal job. It turned into much more than I expected. I was scheduled to work 20 hours a week however I worked 40 to 60 hours per week.

This past week I have started writing again. The hiatus was good for my creative soul but it is time to get back to work. Thank you for your continued support during this crazy time in my life. Keep your eyes peeled for creative writing exercises (short stories) to begin reappearing on this blog.

Last weekend, May 2-3, 2014, I scheduled a promotion to offer The Case of the Missing Mother as a free e-book in honor of my Mother-in-Law's 90th birthday. I have several other promotions scheduled this month, stay tuned for future postings. (Hint: I couldn't resist the connection with the word mother in the title.)

Blessings,

Kim

Free Book Promotion

If all has gone right, The Case of the Missing Mother e-book should be a Free E-book available at Amazon on May 2nd and 3rd, 2014, in honor of my Mother-in-Law's 90th Birthday.

Happy Birthday, Ella! It's not everyday that you turn 90! I wanted to honor the woman who raised my husband to be a loving supporting man.

Blessings,

Kim

The Legend Trilogy, A review

A flash back to the origins of this blog. Prior to 2013, I believe, all my post were reviews of YA and Middle Grade Fiction. I haven't read many books in the last six months due to the amount of work it took to illustrate my book, The Case of the Missing Mother . However, I did manage to complete the Legend Trilogy written by Marie Lu. I started the series September of 2012. I finished the series during Michigan's Ice Storm just before Christmas 2013. We lost power for twenty-four hours. It was during this time I read Champion.

June and Day, the main characters, start Legend as enemies with June undercover pursuing Day for his criminal behavior. The story is set in a post apocalyptic, post-America Los Angeles. The story is well created and captivating. Sometime, when I read a series I have to reread a portion of the previous book to pick up the story line. I found the characters created by Marie Lu memorable enough to jump right into the next book.

I recommend reading this trilogy. These books would be a good start if you've been wanting to try a dystopian, post apocalyptic series.

Blessings,

Kim Izzy
